Our Pastor
Dr. Jayson Godsey was born and raised in Detroit, Michigan and received Christ as his Savior at the early age of seven while attending Gideon Baptist Church in Warren, Michigan. Yet it was two decades later, under a tent in Boyne City that he surrendered to the call of God on his life while listening to the preaching of Dr. Tom Malone.
Under the mentorship of Dr. Malone, he graduated from Midwestern Baptist College, and under a burden from the Holy Spirit, immediately went into full-time evangelism where he was used extensively throughout the country.
Then, in the spring of 2012 with just a handful of people attending, he accepted the call to pastor Faith Baptist Church in Cadillac, Michigan where he continues to Pastor today. The church has grown vastly in membership and ministries in the last decade as Dr. Godsey has led the charge in reaching souls to be saved and baptized for Christ. After outgrowing the previous building, the church was able to purchase and renovate a building on 27 acres in December of 2014.
That small handful has grown into a body of believers that now serve in Sunday school programs for all ages, a teen ministry, nursing home ministry, and a bus ministry that picks up nearly 100 riders every week. God has truly answered prayers and blessed the work at Faith Baptist Church in Cadillac.
Yet, with the heart of an evangelist, Dr. Godsey for some time felt a burden for the Traverse City area, just 50 miles north and in need of a strong Bible believing church. Once again, in February of 2024, he accepted the call to Pastor six members at Zion Baptist Church in Traverse City in addition to his pastorate in Cadillac. God can do much with a few, and the members of Faith Baptist Church in Cadillac are excited to support Dr. Godsey in reviving a work in Traverse City much like theirs began.
With a burden for reaching the lost, Dr. Godsey continues to Pastor Faith Baptist Church, as well as preach conferences and revival meetings across the country. By God’s grace, he endeavors to be used in pastoring Zion Baptist Church as well to reach Traverse City, Michigan for Christ!
